 Red Light Tickets

NYC Ticket Master can help you!

It’s easy to misjudge the length of a yellow light and accidentally run a red light.  Contact an experienced attorney to fight these tickets.

If a police officer witnesses you running a red light, he can issue a ticket on the spot or mail you a ticket.

A conviction for running a red light can include:

  • 3 points on your driving record

  • a fine ranging from $100-$1000

  • a surcharge of $88-$93

  • increased car insurance premiums

  • a suspension of your license*

New York City has also installed cameras at intersections to catch vehicles running red lights.  The camera takes a photograph of the license plate, and the Notice of Ticket is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.  The New York City Department of Finance handles all parking tickets and camera tickets.  If you choose to fight this ticket, you must request a hearing within 30 days.

*The DMV can suspend your license if you accrue 11 points in 18 months.  If your license is suspended, and you are caught driving with a suspended license, you could face criminal charges.  See our page, Driving with a Suspended License, for more information.
